Byron is an English vampire who works as a stripper at Guilty Pleasures. He is not a master vampire, and never will be, and he accepts this fact. We meet him for the first time in Incubus Dreams.

His hair is soft brown, and curls past his ears, and his eyes are huge and grey. He has a slender body type and is shorter than Anita. Byron speaks with a nice British accent and uses endearments like Duckie and Lover towards everyone, including Anita. He can pass for an eighteen year-old even though he was turned when he was fifteen.

Before the series[]

Byron was turned sometime in 1700's. He was part of Dracula's Kiss in London, but when his master was killed by the Harlequin, he was saved by Jean-Claude instead of being left to Belle Morte. While the Harlequin were tormenting Dracula and his court, and influencing their emotions, Byron had a brief sexual relationship with Requiem, who has a strict policy of not doing men.

Incubus Dreams[]

Byron is mentioned for the first time when a lycanthrope informs Buzz, who was talking to Anita, that a group of college students were heckling Byron while he was dancing at the Guilty Pleasures.

Shortly afterwards Anita gets injured while trying to to control Primo and Jean-Claude makes it worse by feeding from her, although it's a necessity. Jean-Claude orders Byron to tend to her wounds, but when Byron reaches Anita she is weak enough that gazing into his eyes almost rolls her, although she manages to fight it off. They leave the stage area to Jean-Claude, who has Primo under control for now.

Anita is led into a dressing room backstage by Byron and Nathaniel, so that Byron can bandage her wound. He explains to Anita that she should not touch Nathaniel, because as Jean-Claude fed from her in the club she might also inadvertently feed from Nathaniel. While they are talking Jean-Claude asks Anita to feed the ardeur for him because he needs further help in controlling the belligerent Primo. Byron agrees to be Anita's food if it means having sex and not blood. Anita feeds from him and Requiem both through sex and blood respectively.

When Anita later leaves to meet her client she takes Byron's leather jacket to replace her bloodied one.

Danse Macabre[]

Byron is only mentioned a few times in this novel in relation to having served as Anita's emergency food that one time, and never seen in person.

The Harlequin[]

In this novel Byron is first seen dancing at the Guilty Pleasures. After finishing up his act Byron comes into Jean Claude's office, along with Requiem. Everyone is acting slightly weirdly thanks to the Harlequin messing with all of their emotions, although they don't realize that at the time. Byron offers Anita to dominate Nathaniel for her, which puzzles her. This apparently stems partially from Byron's desire to be helpful, and partially from him wanting to needle Requiem. Byron seems to hold some previously hidden resentment towards Requiem from their implied sexual history during their previous experiences with the Harlequin, possibly because Requiem presumably dropped Byron like a hot potato after regaining his senses. It's likely that Byron's resentment is only kindled into action because it's being brought to the surface and fueled by the Harlequin. Once they figure out what's going on, Byron tells Jean-Claude and others about what the Harlequin did to Dracula's kiss, and becomes worried when Jean-Claude says he will ask for a meeting with the Harlequin.

Towards the end of the novel Jean-Claude suggests Asher as Anita's BDSM teacher because unlike Byron, who is a switch, Asher is a dominant.

Byron appears to have had sex with Cardinal during a ardeur-fueled orgy due to Lover of Death's attack during the events of Bullet.

  • Anita used Byron to feed the ardeur only once during an emergency because he prefers males to females, even though he identifies himself as a bisexual. (Danse Macabre)
